About Me
Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Flora.
I’m a product designer born in Korea, raised in Waterloo, Canada. I previously worked on designing solutions for scientific instruments for drug discovery research at Nicoya.
I originally studied Biochemistry and Business at the University of Guelph, and started my career in sales. After a couple thousand cold calls and emails, I soon realized my passion for helping others find the best solutions to their problems, leading to me constantly asking “what can I do to help?”.
Through a close friend, I discovered the field of UX and immediately fell in love with the craft. I dived into the endless resources and books on learning everything about it. I completed a User Experience Design certificate at Brain Station, and earlier this year completed IDEO U’s Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate.
My scientific background of always asking why and understanding the series of factors and processes that lead to different results and actions makes me a user research enthusiast. Also, my love for anything painting, drawing and using my creativity has sculpted my character in how I see the world and communicate to my surroundings and people. I’m looking for opportunities in product design where I can help make a positive impact in peoples lives by designing accessible and delightful experiences.
What do I do outside of work?
When I’m not designing, you can find me usually cooking up new recipes with my friends and family and enjoying the nice weather outside, out for dog walks, or curled up on my couch with a cup of coffee and book. I love to paint using anything from acrylics, water colour or oil, and I play the piano to relax. Also, I’m a huge fan of any sports that involves a ball, like basketball, volleyball or soccer.
